MBABANE:Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has urged United Nations(UN) Eswatini Resident Coordinator George Wachira to promote the Tinkhundla system of governance to the international community.
This was during the PM’s meeting with the UN Eswatini Coordinator on Friday held in Mbabane, the Prime Minister further discussed issues of Gender Based Violence(GBV).
On another note, under the Tinkhundla system of governance, King Mswati rules as an absolute Monarch, political parties are banned from participating in elections.
The King appoints the Prime Minister, Ministers, Judges, a majority of Senators and all members of the various Governing Councils.
Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line and in 2021, the World Bank reported that, unemployment rate escalated to 33.3%.
Under the ruling Tinkhundla system of governance, journalists are arrested for criticizing the King and the government while political activists are tortured and killed for demanding democracy.
