“Remove pictures of former Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini on the walls with dignity and respect,don’t humiliate him”, Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo warns.

MBABANE: Alpheous Nxumalo, the Government Spokesperson has appealed to members of the public and private companies to remove portraits of former Prime Minister(PM) Cleopas Sipho Dlamini on the walls with dignity and respect amid social media humiliation of the former Head of Government.

This comes after circulating pictures of the former PM dumped in the dustbin and this, was shortly after the King appointed Russell Mmiso Dlamini as the new Prime Minister at Ludzidzini Palace on Friday afternoon.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday afternoon, the Government Spokesperson described the ongoing humiliation of the former PM as unjust and against the spirit of buntfu(humanity).He said, the portraits of the new PM will be released soon after he took the oath of office at the Cabinet Offices.

“Yes, pictures of the former Prime Minister can be removed as soon as a new Prime Minister is appointed.There\'s no specific procedure to be followed or adhered to when removing those portrait.However, we can only appeal to society and companies to handle the portrait of the former Prime Minister with decency as opposed to the manner in which we witnessed in the social media space yesterday.Former Prime Ministers and other State officials are accorded continued respect in this country irrespective of the fact that they nolonger occupying any state office or position. This is what we called \"BUNTFU!\".Government\'s advice is that pull-down those portraits nicely and wrap them up with nice covers before disposing them.Be courteous, not reckless and cause unnecessary social media drama”, said the Government Spokesperson.
