MBABANE:Alpheous Nxumalo,the Government Spokesperson says there’s nothing wrong with emaSwati visiting the Mainland China.

This comes a few weeks after Nxumalo politicized a trip by political activists to that country, he accused former Senate Deputy President Ngomyayona Gamedze, Barnes Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland Democratic Party(SWADEPA),former Minister Gideon Dlamini Dlamini and the then SWADEPA Secretary General(SG) Mbongseni Shabangu of plotting the second wave of the political unrest.

But this Swaziland News subsequently exposed that Prince Guduza,the Chairman of the Minerals Management Board went to China to engage investors as per the instruction of King Mswati.

After the article,Zweli Martin Dlamini the editor of this Swaziland News, was then interviewed by the South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) Channel Africa radio where he analyzed the possibility of eSwatini dumping Taiwan to establish diplomatic relations with China.

“China is our trading partner, even Taiwan trades with them.There’s nothing wrong with emaSwati traveling to China. Diplomatic relations are not established secretly but the Head of State normally instructs the Foreign Affairs Minister to engage that country openly after taking that decision”, said the Government Spokesperson when speaking to the State owned radio on Tuesday evening, Nxumalo was reacting to the editor’s SABC interview.

Reached for comments on Wednesday,Ngomyayona Gamedze, the former Senate Deputy President said, the Government Spokesperson must first apologize to China for labeling people who travelled to that country as terrorists.

“China is aware of all the things Alpheous said, he labelled us as terrorists for no reason.He is even washing away the efforts of the King who is engaging investors to help this country because the truth is; this country is struggling economically.Almost all Chinese are living above poverty level, there’s no poverty in China,” said the Sive Siyinqaba Chairman.
