MBABANE: Hip Hop artist Sifiso Ndlangamandla aka Illa Penboy has registered a foundation that seeks to help more poor families especially those heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an interview with this Swaziland News the Hip Hop artist revealed that the foundation will be fully registered by next week.
“The registration process is now at an advanced stage, hopefully everything will be finalized by next week. It all began with donate a bread campaign, I started this with only 100 loaves of bread financed through my pocket. Before I knew it, a lot of Emaswati and corporate companies joined in. We delivered bread at various soup kitchens around the country. We later discovered that bread was not enough for some families and we started distributing groceries to some families that were in dire need, now we have reached over 50 families and 200 care points\" said Ndlangamandla.
Ndlangamandla added that when he started the campaign it was in the midst of the lockdown, everybody was told to stay home to be safe, so he realised that some Swazis would stay home and die of hunger hence the donate a bread campaign. He also said as a foundation they are looking forward to helping Emaswati during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
“We have started building houses for those that don\'t have a roof over their heads, and also provided 5 tertiary scholarships for those who can\'t afford tertiary education. It is such an amazing thing that a donation of E 10 can do so much for those poor Swazis out there. I registered the Foundation to be able to seek help from big cooperate companies and international organisations, and we also want to be accountable,\" he said.
The Donate a Bread campaign founder also thanked all companies that have come forward and joined his campaign. These companies include MTN, Mr Price Home, Premier Bakeries and many others. Those who wish to donate can do so via mobile money, FNB eWallet, Standard Bank Instant money at 7863 7196.
