MBABANE:Bonginkhosi Bhongo Nkambule,a member of the Communist Party of Swaziland(CPS), has been arrested and charged with terrorism as King Mswati’s regime intensifies crackdown against pro-democracy activists.
The political activist is accused of burning a police vehicle and a National Flag during the recent political unrest.
Eswatini is ruled by King Mswati as an absolute Monarch, political parties are banned from participating in elections while political activists and human rights defenders are arrested,tortured and killed for demanding democracy.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News, Bafanabakhe Sacolo,the CPS National Organizing Secretary(NOS) confirmed the arrest of the political activist, Nkambule who appeared at the High Court on Thursday, he is facing charges under the Suppression of Terrorism Act.
“He has been charged under the Suppression of Terrorism Act and has also been remanded back to custody, he will make his next court appearance on the 18th January 2024,"said the CPS National Organizing Secretary.
