LOBAMBA:Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson says,Mswati was not in any way, involved in facilitating the release of Prince Majaha’s bodyguard Mfungelwa Magonso Masilela who stands accused of raping and/or sodomizing Ingatja.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Tuesday, the King’s Spokesperson said, courts “operates independently and outside the influence” of the Monarch.
This comes after this publication contacted the King’s Office to seek clarity after information emerged suggesting that, the suspect who was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping Ingatja(13) has been released from prison.
The bodyguard was seen taking a bath at Manzana hotsprings Ezulwini on Sunday, he is alleged to be one of King Mswati’s muti men.
“We are not aware of Mr Masilela's release and the alleged condition for his freedom. We believe this is a matter that is dealt with by our courts away from the King's Office and the Head of State. Our experience is that he does not get involved in releasing suspect princes and princesses. Our judicial system is independent. We have no reasons to believe it operates on public orders and opinions. We will continue to believe that if indeed the suspect in question was released,it was per the decision of the court he appeared before, probable on bail and surely not because of his job within the Royal Family”, said the King’s Spokesperson.
