REVEALED:Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Thulisile Dladla, Government not building any school at Maphiveni, project funded by UNICEF.

Tuesday, 6th February, 2024

MBABANE:Thulisile Dladla, the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) and/or Government will not build any school at Maphiveni, the construction of the school is actually a project funded by the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund(UNICEF) and the United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA).

Eswatini is ruled by King Mswati as an absolute Monarch, about 70% of the population lives below the poverty line while taxes are used to fund the King’s extravagant or lavish lifestyle.

The State owned media reported this week that, the DPM or Government will construct a school that will accommodate forty-eight(48)Grade one(1)pupils who are mostly vulnerable and previously, had no birth certificates.

Currently, the school is located in a building that was renovated and repurposed into classrooms.

When addressing residents, teachers and the pupils, the DPM said,Government will build the school.

But she did mention developing partners without disclosing the amount the State will contribute from taxpayers monies, Government normally ‘hijack’ projects and disseminate false information to the public that, the projects were funded by the King or Government to create public confidence that, taxpayers monies were used wisely.

“Government will assist and build a school”, she said.

But it appeared that the project, is part of the United Nations(UN) 2030 agenda to promote quality education as part of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).

Reached for comments on Tuesday, Brian Sangweni, the Spokesperson of eSwatini main, largest and most influential political party, the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said, Tinkhundla Government relies heavily on international development partners while failing to deliver basic services to the people.

“It puts it bare that Tinkhundla is failing to deliver its governmental mandates particularly those of developing the lives of ordinary Swazis. There is heavy reliance on international development partners in almost all the sectors which indicates the incapacity of the system to carry out core governmental functions.A government that makes a lot of promises while it is incapable of delivering will surely live through lies as King Mswati’s government is doing. The prosperous future of Swazis lies in a constitutional multiparty democratic dispensation where the people will be in full control of their government and thereby commanding and directing their own development”, said the PUDEMO National Spokesperson.
