King Mswati says, “No Liswati should die as result of non-availability of drugs in hospitals”.

LOBAMBA:King Mswati says, “no Liswati should die from lack of proper health services” and as a result,Government will work towards ensuring that every liSwati has “access" to quality health care without financial constraints or difficulties.

The King disclosed this when delivering his speech from the Throne during the official opening of the first session of the 12th Parliament at Lobamba-Nkhanini,on Friday afternoon.

“The Kingdom's national goal is for every liSwati to have access to quality health care as and when they need it without financial or service difficulty. This is in line with the People's call at Sibaya to improve service delivery. The country wants a people who are healthy, productive and have a high life expectancy. Our ultimate goal is to strengthen our health sector and provide specialised medical care locally.We urge Government to expedite the commencement of the process of mobilising resources for the construction of the referral hospital as promised by the friends of the kingdom.This should be done in the next financial year.No liSwati should die from lack of proper health services”, said the King.

The King’s speech comes at a time when eSwatini is facing a health crisis amid shortage of drugs in public hospitals, hundreds have died since the crisis erupted.

An investigation into the health crisis was conducted and subsequently, there were moves by SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraff to challenge the report and/or investigation.
