PRETORIA:His Excellency Chen Xiaodong,the Chinese Ambassador to South Africa says,poverty alleviation remains an important component of the diplomatic relations that exist between the two(2) countries.
The Ambassador was speaking during a recent visit at the Kgomo Kgomo village in Moretele,North West Province,when handing over a donation of food parcels worth five hundred thousand Rands(R500,000.00).
“China is the world’s largest developing country. As we strive to cut poverty and achieve development ourselves, we have always been committed to helping other developing countries advance poverty reduction, so as to achieve shared development and prosperity.China and South Africa enjoy a Comrades plus Brothers special bond and poverty alleviation is an important component of our cooperation.In recent years, through donating supplies,funding,building projects and providing training, China engaged in strong development cooperation with South Africa and made active contribution to South Africa’s socioeconomic development”,said the Chinese Ambassador.
Lindiwe Zulu,the South African Minister of Social Development, when speaking during the event, expressed her gratitude for China's generous donation,and highly appreciated China's remarkable achievements in poverty reduction.
The Minister said China's long-term support for South Africa's efforts to improve people's livelihoods reflects the Chinese people's friendship with the South African people adding that,South Africa looks forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation with China,so as to achieve new progress in poverty reduction and rural development.
