MBABANE:Mthandeni Dube,the convicted eSwatini pro-democracy Member of Parliament(MP),says he was vocal in Parliament because he wanted accountability of public resources.
Eswatini is ruled by Mswati as an absolute Monarch, political parties are banned from participating in elections and public resources are used to fund the King’s extravagant lifestyle.
Addressing the court and/or Judge Mumcy Dlamini during the ongoing mitigation,the MP said,he “has passion on ficus” and financial prudence.
“My lady I have a passion on the ficus and financial prudence as such always vocal in Parliament on accountability of public resources",said the convicted pro-democracy MP.
MP Mthandeni Dube was arrested in July 2021 together with MP Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza,they were subsequently convicted on politically motivated terrorism charges merely for demanding democracy and/or an elected Prime Minister.
The order to arrest the MPs was allegedly issued by King Mswati,an absolute Monarch with Executive, Judicial and Legislative powers.
