MATSAPHA:Tokkie Hou,the Far East Textile Managing Director(MD) allegedly locked workers inside her factory on Tuesday night and forced them to work an overtime without providing them with transport thus exposing some of the female employees to rape on their way back home.
It has been disclosed that, the textile workers who are sometimes forced to knock-off around 12midnight are not provided with transport or paid for working overtime.
Textile workers are among the most exploited in eSwatini, a tiny Kingdom with about 70% of the population living below the poverty line.
On Tuesday evening,one of the exploited workers was allegedly offered a lift by a Maziya man who drives a red Honda Fit, the man allegedly drove with the woman towards Zombodze at a high speed and textile worker jumped-off the car and was injured.
Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
A injury on duty report in possession of this Swaziland News confirms that the, textile worker jumped-off a moving car.
A questionnaire was sent to Tokkie Hou,the Far East Managing Director, however,she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, the father of the textile worker's child told this publication that his girlfriend, was almost raped by the man who drives the Honda Fit.
“The owner of the car was supposed to drop her at Ludzeludze markets but he decided to speed-off towards Zombodze-Nkamanzi pass uMtilane River.She then jumped-off the speeding car, unfortunately,she was injured, as you can see”, said the boyfriend to the textile worker when speaking to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini through a video call.
