SIDVOKODVO:Woman Farmer Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization(NGO) is training twenty-nine(29) women and youth from different areas on tunnel farming, Mphumalanga Zwane, the Foundation’s Communications Officer told this publication on Wednesday.
The Communications Officer said their training centre is based at Sidvokodvo and offers an Innovative Climate Smart Tunnel Production program which gives both practical and theoretical training on protective farming.
“Tunnel farming offers several advantages over open land farming.It allows for controlled environment agriculture, which can lead to higher yields and better quality crops due to the ability to manage temperature, humidity, pests more effectively.Additionally, tunnel farming can extend the growing season and reduce water usage through efficient irrigation systems", she said.
The Communications Officer further mentioned that, they were working with multiple partners who deliver training sessions on access to finance and also provide networking opportunities for their students.
