MBABANE: Senator Isaac Mmemo Magagula, the Chairman of the Ministry of Justice Portfolio Committee has expressed concern regarding suspects who are easily granted bail despite facing serious crimes like murder.

Addressing the Minister of Justice in Parliament on Monday, the former Police National Commissioner asked the Minister what could be done to control the situation.

“The issue of bail is a serious concern, we recently saw a suspect facing a serious crime being granted bail”, said the Senator.

Responding to the Senator, Justice Minister Prince Simelane shared the same sentiments and agreed with Senator Magagula’s observation.

“Sometimes you find a suspect being granted fifty-thousand Emalangeni(E50,000.00)bail and then ordered to pay only five thousand Emalangeni(E5,000.00) and provide forty-five thousand Emalangeni(R45,000.00) as surety. Batawuphuma bonkhe!”, said the Minister.
