LOBAMBA LOMDZALA:Khandlela Mdluli, the King’s Protocol Officer is allegedly building a house worth over R10million.
The under-construction house is situated at Don-Don Mahlanya area next to former Prime Minister(PM) Cleopas Dlamini’s residence at Lobamba Lomdzala.
Efforts to reach the King’s Protocol Officer proved unsuccessful as his cellphone rang unanswered.
On another note, the King’s Protocol Officer allegedly earns less than twenty thousand Rands(R20,000.00) after deductions, he is paid a salary almost equivalent to that of Principal Secretaries(PS) of the various Government Ministries.
A Principal Secretary is paid a basic salaries of R53,947.26, an entertainment allowance of R150,00.00, a car allowance of R12,085.96 including a housing allowance amounting to R650,00.00, this means Mdluli must at least have various alternative sources of income to build a house worth over R10million.
When asked by this Swaziland News to clarify if employees of the King’s Office are sometimes subjected to lifestyle audits, King’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane said, he was not aware of any code of conduct regulating the employees outside the perimeters of their work stations.
“We are not aware of any code of conduct that finds King's Office employees outside the perimeters of their work stations. If would be then invasion of privacy for anyone in the office to interrogate how the protocol officer in question saved funds to build his house”, said the King’s Spokesperson.
