MBABANE: The minor children who witnessed the assassination of their father human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko,are being subjected to extremely inhuman conditions by the eSwatini police as per an alleged order from King Mswati.

Eswatini is ruled by Mswati as an absolute Monarch, political activists and human rights defenders are arrested,tortured and killed for demanding democracy.

In the early hours on Thursday the children were detained together with their mother Tanele Maseko and this, comes after the wife to the assassinated lawyer was threatened by the State through Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo for uttering sentiments suggesting that, her husband was allegedly killed by a “horrible dictator”.

Retiring Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

The widow to the assassinated lawyer, was detained at the Oshoek Boarder while crossing from South Africa to eSwatini. She was harassed together with the children and thereafter, the police detained her at the Manzini Regional Police Headquarters after a brief release.

The harassment of the widow was confirmed to this Swaziland News by eSwatini human rights lawyer Sibusiso Nhlabatsi.

“It’s true she has just been released” said the human rights lawyer earlier on Thursday morning.

But,it has been disclosed that, at the time of compiling this report on Thursday afternoon, the widow was detained and harassed again at the Manzini Police Headquarters,women rights and political activists had gathered outside the Police Station, demanding her release.
