MBABANE:Maphevu Mkhatjwa,the Acting Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC) has written a letter to Luke Lushaba, the Chief Fire Officer demanding some documents to assist in the ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption in the recent recruitment exercise.
This comes after a series of articles published by this Swaziland News, the Chief Fire Officer stands accused of sidelining qualified aspiring Fire-Fighters in favour of unqualified individuals who paid bribes.
As a result, some of those who were sidelined approached this publication and the Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC) with some evidence of the alleged corruption within the Department of Fire and Emergency Services under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
“In terms of Section 11 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act no. 3 of 2006(POCA), your good office is kindly requested to furnish directly to us the copies of the following information. 1.1 The personal files of the trainee fire fighters year 2024. Your institution will also be required to provide us with an affidavit(s) outlining the provided information and any other information that would be discussed between our investigators and your officers in respect of this investigation”, reads the letter dated 08 April 2024.
Efforts to seek a comment from the Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC) Commissioner proved unsuccessful while Chief Fire Officer Luke Lushaba declined to comment.
On another note, on the 7th February 2024 this Swaziland News exposed Chief Fire Officer Luke Lushaba in that, he allegedly engaged in an act of corruption by sidelining qualified aspiring Fire Fighters in favour of the unqualified who paid bribes.
