MANKAYANE: Thabo Sibandze,the Mankayane town street vendor who presented sweets to Prime Minister(PM) Russell Mmiso Dlamini is actually facing a struggle of life.
A research conducted by this publication about the street vendor who presented sweets to the eSwatini Head of Government uncovered that, Sibandze dropped out of the University of eSwatini(UNESWA) where he was a Bachelor of Commerce student, due to lack of funds.
Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line, some University students are struggling to secure scholarships from the Government.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Saturday evening,Sibandze said even though he was willing to go back to the University and pursue his studies, he would appreciate assistance to strengthen his business so he can pay tuition fees from his own pocket.
“I dropped out from UNESWA doing my first year in Bcom due to lack of funds that’s why I’m selling sweets in town”, said the street vendor.
When asked what assistance he may need to further his studies, Sibandze said, he would appreciate to go back to the University but maintained that, the struggle of life has taught him to work hard and as a result, “he can appreciate receiving adequate support and training on business” so he can fund his education.
