MBABANE: Antonio Guterres,the United Nations(UN) Secretary General has warned of another World War and this, comes after Iran attacked Israel with over three hundred(300) drones and missiles on Saturday night.

As a result,the UN Secretary General called for an immediate de-escalation of the conflict in the Middle-East.

But the attack comes after Iran vowed to retaliate for an alleged Israel attack on its Consulate in Syria on 1st April 2024.

The attack that escalated the tension between the two(2) countries amid the war and genocide in Gaza,killed seven(7) military officers,including a top Commander,Iran accused Israel of carrying out the attack but the State of Israel has neither confirmed nor denied it.

Sky News reported on Sunday quoting Israel Defense Force Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari who alleged that, the drones and missiles were intercepted by Israel and its partners being the United Kingdom(UK), United States(US) and other countries.

The Times of Israel reported on Sunday quoting the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres who condemned the attack by Iran on Israel.

“I strongly condemn the serious escalation represented by the large-scale attack launched on Israel by the Islamic Republic of Iran this evening. I call for an immediate cessation of these hostilities.I am deeply alarmed about the very real danger of a devastating region-wide escalation.I urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid any action that could lead to major military confrontations on multiple fronts in the Middle East.I have repeatedly stressed that neither the region nor the world can afford another war,” said the United Nations Secretary General as quoted by the Times of Israel.
