MATSAPHA: Bishop Bheki Lukhele of the All Nations Church donated E20,000.00 to Umhluma Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization(NGO) for widows, orphans and vulnerable children.
This was during a fundraising event held at Swazi National High School that saw the organization raising about E70,000.00 through various donations and pledges. Speaking to this Swaziland News, Umhluma Patron, a former Cabinet Minister Stella Lukhele confirmed that the Bishop donated the said amount to the organization. She thanked the Bishop for the great support adding that this will go a long way in supporting the organization.
“Bishop of the All Nations church promised to fund his 117 church members who attended the fundraising dinner. Each person paid E200 for attending the event, so in total the Bishop donated E23,400.00” she said.
Speaking during the event, Deputy Prime Minister’s Representative Jenny Mkhonta-Simelane said the donations will really help the widows.
"If you want to succeed in life you have to develop a habit of offering, we thank the idea of fundraising for Umhluma to help widows and orphans. Our Constitution states that widows should be protected, widows who have problems should not lose hope as they will be attended under the social Welfare Department” she said.
Umhluma Widows Association Director Lungelo Zulu said the money will help widows find means of surviving.
"The main aim for this dinner was to establish a savings and cooperative for the widows. Dups has already opened a Special Policy for the widows and we also aiming at providing a seed capital for those who want to pursue different projects. Zulu said.
