MBABANE: The Independent Electoral Commission(IEC) has refused to remove former South African President Jacob Zuma in the Parliamentary list of the UMkhonto weSizwe(MK) party.
This comes after Jabulani Khumalo who claimed to be founder of the political organization, wrote to the Electoral Commission urging it to remove Jacob Zuma as the face and President of the MK party.
“The Commission reiterates its stance that it does not involve itself in internal affairs of political parties. Additionally, the Commission only acts on instruction of the registered leader of the party. In the present case, Mr Jacob Zuma is the registered leader of MK Party. This has been so since 10 April 2024”, reads a media statement released by the Independent Electoral Commission(IEC) on Tuesday.
