MBABANE:Ncobile Magagula, the once powerful and politically connected Corporate Affairs Manager of the Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation(EPTC)is facing serious charges of dishonesty and, might be fired if found guilty.
The daughter of the late Information Minister Winnie Magagula was fired by the Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation(ESRIC) but despite the allegations of fraud in his previous place of employment, she secured employment with the Eswatini Telecoms a Government parastatal that was under the Ministry headed by her mother.
Among other charges, the EPTC Manager is alleged to have registered a company known as Zinoky Investments together with her family members, with an alleged intention to do business with her employer and loot public funds within the State owned company.
According to the charges, after registering the company-Zinoky Investments and without disclosing a conflict of interest,the Manager is alleged to have awarded tenders to her own company under the EPTC social responsibility programs.
But apart from the alleged fraud and or conflict of interest,the Manager is alleged to have hacked a Facebook page belonging to the State owned entity and subsequently lied that, it was hacked by unknown individuals when in fact, it was subsumed under her private company’s Facebook page known as Zinokysunday.
“You concealed to management that in fact EPTC Facebook page had been subsumed under a Facebook page known as Zinokysunday, which you had accessed on a number of previous occasions”, reads the charges in part.
The EPTC Manager declined to comment regarding the allegations against her.
Magagula was allegedly notified on the 09 April 2024 to attend a disciplinary hearing and is facing dismissal.
On another note,the State owned company lost millions through cyber crime and/or corruption.
Mtiti Fakudze, the Board Chairperson previously told this Swaziland News that, Managing Director(MD) Themba Khumalo was mandated to clean, revive the company and ensure that it is self-sustainable.
“As the Board,we entrusted the MD to ensure that the company is self-sustainable and so far, he is doing-well. As we speak, we have a turn-around strategy that was submitted to Cabinet and we are waiting for the elders(Cabinet) to approve it.This company has a potential to be productive and compete in the Information Technology (IT), all that was needed was good leadership,” said the EPTC Board Chairperson.
