MBABANE:Thantaza Silolo, the Spokesperson of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) has, on behalf of the political organization, released a statement condemning Government for supporting the ongoing demolitions at Gege-Mbondzela.
This comes after Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo released a statement, saying government fully supports the demolitions while labelling the Gege-Mbondzela residents “illegal occupants”.
In a public statement sent to this Swaziland News on Thursday afternoon, the political organization said it noted “the barbaric response of the eSwatini government” where the State supported the demolitions and/or evictions.
“It is surely clear today that this country’s future belongs to the rich and business and royalty. The poor and underprivileged need to prepare themselves for more suffering as everything they boast about will soon belong either to the state, business or royalty.
We have witnessed in the recent past cries by retired workers who lamented that their pensions money was stolen to the benefit of royalty and government yet there has be no correction of such anomalies to date which proves something”, reads the statement in part.
Residents of Gege are homeless and without shelter, their homes were demolished by Taiwan investors with the support of those in power.
