LOBAMBA: Liqoqo, the King’s Advisory Council summoned Prophet Gcina Mtsetfwa’s family last week after he revealed ritual secrets about the on-going Incwala ceremony through an audio recording that was widely circulated on social media.
This confirmed by Paul Dlamini, the Liqoqo Chairman who mentioned that the decision to summon the Mtsetfwa family came after they noted with great concern that the Prophet was consistently revealing royal secrets which he said was not allowed. The Prophet who fled the country after receiving information that a royal command was issued to kill him is a former Praise Singer for His Majesty King Mswati.
“We have made attempts to address this matter with the Mtsetfwa family. You cannot just speak badly about the King, this is not allowed. This man speaks about royal secrets publicly instead of coming to us to explain his prophecies. We are not hiding anything, even if he want to meet elders, we can arrange that” he said.
But the Prophet, when speaking to this publication said he can only speak directly to the King not Liqoqo.
“ God sent me to the King not Liqoqo, however, the grace period for the delivery of this message had long elapsed. I am aware that my family was summoned but I am a Prophet sent by God so nothing will change” he said
Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberation Congress(NNLC) said it was very strange for royalty to summon Gcina Mtsetfwa’s family instead of engaging the Prophet in his personal capacity.
“The prophet is an adult and if according to them, he has committed a crime, they must address that with him not his family. As far as I know, the Incwala is a ritual ceremony for the royal family and a religion of ancestral worship. The prophet is merely saying this cannot be mixed with Christianity and is supported by the scriptures.”
Reached for comment, Pius Vilakati, the Spokesperson for the Communist Party of Swaziland said the persecution of Gcina Mtsetfwa amounts to the violation of freedom of religion.
“This is amounts to the gross violation of freedom of religion. It has been perpetrated by the fact that the message was in conflict with the religious beliefs of the absolute Monarch” he said.
