MBABANE:Major General Collen Lasco,the Head of King’s Royal Close Protection Unit will receive over five hundred thousand Rands(R500,000.00) as a traveling allowance.
Information gathered by this Swaziland News suggests that,the allowance is in respect of Lasco’s travel to Taiwan a few days before the arrival of the King,to analyze security.
The King’s Head of Security then travelled to other Asian countries as Mswati is highly expected to leave the country this week.
It has been disclosed that,Lasco’s huge payment was calculated based on the number of days “he is spending outside the country”, conducting surveillance and/or security assessment ahead of the King’s visit to various countries.
A security assessment in this context,is an investigation conducted to analyze risks if any, before the arrival of the King.
The process is also referred to as “intelligence information gathering” and it is conducted by a few trusted security officers.
It is the investigation report that then influences routes to be used after landing and/or whether it is safe or not to continue with the trip.
Reached for comments earlier by this Swaziland News, King’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane said,his office does not deal with hotel bookings and allowances adding that,it is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that handles such issues.
“We don't handle finances and hotel bookings,we would not know”, said the King’s Spokesperson.
Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
