Nombuso Sibandze of Gege-Mbondzela assaulted by the police who labelled her ‘Ingwadla’ as they demand her brother’s whereabouts in killing of security guard investigations.

GEGE:Nombuso Sibandze, a resident of Gege-Mbondzela was allegedly assaulted by the police and labelled ‘Ingwadla’ during interrogation as the rogue law enforcement officers demand that she reveals the whereabouts of her brother, who stands accused of killing Vukani Mkhwanazi, a security guard.

Ingwadla is a siSwati word meaning ‘prostitute’, almost all women who were once investigated by the police shared the same experience of being labeled “Tingwadla’ even by other female police officers.

The security guard was allegedly killed for shooting residents who were being evicted from their land at Gege-Mbondzela,police subsequently arrested other residents in connection with the murder.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Saturday morning, the twenty-seven(27) year-old alleged that,she was summoned by the Gege police and tortured, the police were demanding that,she reveals the whereabouts of her brother.

“I was assaulted by more than ten(10) police officers and labeled me ‘Ingwadla’.The police were saying; we will deal with this prostitute if she doesn’t want to speak the truth and tell us where her brother is”, said the Mbondzela resident.

Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Eswatini police under the Tinkhundla undemocratic system of governance, has killed dozens of civilians during interrogations and protests,this include women and children.

The Human Rights Commission is compromised when it comes to investigating such human rights violations as the Commission is not independent but reports to the King and the Government.
