MBABANE: John Molelekeng, the eSwatini TV journalist says, the Gege-Mbondzela evictions and demolitions was beginning to attract the attention of political opportunists(ematsabelangoti).
The State controlled journalist made this comment when posing a question directed to Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and this, was during the Breakfast Meeting held the Mountain View in Mbabane on Thursday, he urged Government to address the land issue to prevent political opportunists from manipulating the plight of the people.
“In the Gege-Mbondzela matter besekungena ematsabelangoti, why is Government delaying to address the land issue to prevent political opportunists from manipulating the situation”, said the Eswatini TV journalist.
It is still unclear if the journalist was referring to the political activists who assisted the residents by putting pressure on Government to address the situation and stop the evictions.
The Government had earlier issued a statement through Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo supporting the evictions and demolitions.
But the statement was subsequently reversed and the evictions and demolitions were stopped after the matter was escalated by political parties.
Eswatini TV did not cover the plight of the residents when the demolitions started however, the journalist has allegedly labeled those who assisted the residents ematsabelangoti.
