MBABANE:Media24 is highly expected to shut-down four(4) of its print publications,including the City Press,Rapport,Beeld and the Daily Sun,IOL News reported last week, quoting a report released by Moneyweb.
It has been reported that,the decision to shutdown the newspapers comes after a massive drop in circulation after the emergence of the fourth Industrial Revolution that resulted to the audience accessing news online.
Eswatini two(2)major print newspapers the Times of eSwatini and Eswatini Observer are reportedly facing the same challenges as emaSwati access news online.
On Monday morning,the challenges facing the print media was discussed on SAfm,a South African radio station amid job losses that might be triggered by the newspapers shutdown.
Speaking on SAfm,Professor Anton Harber of the Campaign for Free Expression(CFE) urged journalists and media owners to be innovative and adapt to the new era in the media industry,he said the fall of the print media was long predicted and more newspapers are expected to close.
