“It’s not true that police attacked workers and threw teargas inside a bus”, Labour Minister Phila Buthelezi tells International Labour Organization(ILO).

MBABANE:Phila Buthelezi,the Minister of Labour and Social Security told the International Labour Organization(ILO) that,it’s not true that the police attacked workers and threw a teargas inside a bus.

The Labour and Social Security Minister was responding to ILO last week,during the recent conference in Geneva after the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland(TUCOSWA) reported the teargas bus incident that happened at Nkoyoyo in October 2021,during the political unrest that almost toppled King Mswati’s undemocratic Tinkhundla regime.

Teachers who were traveling to participate in a protest in the capital city-Mbabane were allegedly attacked by the police who threw a teargas inside a bus and subsequently shot them with live ammunitions as they tried to flee.

Lot Vilakati,the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) told this Swaziland News recently that, some of the teachers suffered serious injuries and are still traumatized after the attack by the police.
