MBABANE:Kwazi Masuku, the former Times Sunday journalist and an alleged ‘Ben 10’ boyfriend to Senate President Lindiwe Gwebu-Dlamini,has been cited in the leaked State documents from the Central Bank of Eswatini(CBE) Financial Intelligence Unit.

The State documents in possession of this Swaziland News and other international journalists under the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists(ICIJ) contain highly secretive suspicious bank transactions of public figures, companies and individuals flagged by the Eswatini Financial Intelligence Unit, some of the transactions were referred to the police and the Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC) for further investigations.

It was reported that,Kwazi Klaus Masuku allegedly abused his alleged close relationship with the Senate President to launch a “Win a Car Competition”, members of the public were promised that a Ford Ranger would subsequently be won after buying tickets under Kwazi Foundation.

But the competition was later marred by allegations of fraud, Masuku then disappeared with the car after collecting public monies.

The Senate President allegedly introduced her alleged young boyfriend to Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, the then Eswatini MTN Chief Executive Officer(CEO) and as a result, the “Win a Car Competition” was legitimatized with the reputable MTN brand as members of the public used Mobile Money to buy the ‘Win a Car’ tickets.

The alleged fraud that involves the R1million car was detected in 2019 subsequent to the competition that was concluded in 2018,more evidence links the Senate President as having played a role in supporting her alleged boyfriend to introduce the “Win a Car Competition”.

But the leaked State documents further suggest that, the Central Bank of Eswatini(CBE) investigated the Senate President’s alleged boyfriend and subsequently referred the matter to the police however, the case with file number “E/F 919/2019

RSP 0004/19” as reflected in the documents, was allegedly sabotaged by the eSwatini police.

Senate President Lindiwe Dlamini declined to comment about the matter while efforts to Kwazi Masuku, the former Times Sunday journalist proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini threatened to deal with those who leaked the sensitive State documents.

On another note, the documents suggest that, the police were requested by the Central Bank Financial Intelligence Unit,to conduct further investigations on the Senate President’s alleged boyfriend’s dealings and,it remains unclear why the law enforcement agency subsequently dropped the investigations and whether the Senate President did not abuse her political powers to stop the investigation.
