MBABANE:Nick Jackson, the Managing Director of the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation(RESC) announced that, the company generated 200% profit adding that, part of the money will be paid to workers as bonuses.
The RESC Managing Director made this announcement when addressing workers at Simunye last week.
But over five thousand(5000) seasonal employees are now alleging that, they did not receive their bonuses and now suspecting that, the money might have disappeared along the way and at the hands of Managers.
“As seasonal employees we haven’t received our bonuses yet the MD made it clear that, all those who worked from six months upwards will receive it.Other permanent workers have received their bonuses and we suspecting that, the Managers want to keep it for themselves because they know it’s not easy to communicate with the MD.Please help us by publishing the story so that the MD can see that we haven’t received our money as per his promise. We are over 5000 seasonal workers and we are expecting bonuses amounting to R800.00 each.Others who are permanent received between R5000.00 and R12,000.00 and we expecting our money. Even if it’s R800.00 because we are seasonal employees, it will make a difference in our lives as you know the financial situation in eSwatini. We are over 5000 and this means, the money is over R4million.We know the Managers don’t take us seriously because we are seasonal employees so they can just keep the money for themselves knowing that,we won’t demand answers or speak to the MD”, said the employee.
Nick Jackson, the RESC Managing Director had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, the employee stated that, some permanent employees have already received the money but seasonal workers are still waiting for an in-contact.
