MBABANE:Superintendent Robert Gama, the Head of the Correctional Services Riot Squad tasked with assaulting pro-democracy activists inside prison, allegedly drove with incarcerated alleged members of the Solidarity Forces towards Vusweni and LaMgabhi eTiyeni in a forest situated at Sigombeni and assaulted them.

This comes after the incarcerated pro-democracy activists shouted “Amandla, democracy shall prevail”  during their court appearance last week.

Reached for comments Professor Dlamini, the lawyer representing the political activists, confirmed that his clients were assaulted and almost killed merely shouting “Amandla democracy shall prevail” in court.

“It was Muzi Mnisi,Sibusiso Nxumalo,Siza Zwane, the alleged members of the Solidarity Forces who were heavily assaulted and I will lodge a formal complaint with the Prison authorities”, said the lawyer.

Senior Superintendent Gugulethu Dlamini, the Spokesperson of the Correctional Services declined to comment.

Superintendent Robert Gama is the same Correctional Services senior officer who was leading the team that assaulted convicted pro-democracy MP Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza.

On another note, a member of the Solidarity Forces Executive Command asked not to comment about the assault saying, this might compromise their plans against those assaulting political activists inside prison.
