MBABANE:Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) has accused the ruling Tinkhundla system of governance,of having a traceable record of poisoning and killing those with different political views, calling for democracy.
The NNLC was speaking to Swaziland News on Tuesday, reacting to a report published by this publication suggesting that,Commissioner General Phindile Dlamini ran to court, seeking an order directing convicted pro-democracy Member of Parliament(MP) Bacede Mabuza to eat prison food amid a plot to poison and kill him.
It is alleged that, the order to assault, poison and kill the MP was allegedly issued by King Mswati,an absolute Monarch with Executive,Judicial and Legislative powers.
Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson described the allegations suggesting that, the King wants to poison and kill the MP Mabuza as a stunt meant to seek public sympathy.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Tuesday morning, the Spokesperson clarified that, the King “has nothing to do” with any plot to poison MP Bacede Mabuza adding that,no one has been reportedly poisoned in eSwatini prisons in history.
“We believe strongly that this is all made-up for cheap audiences. Not even with the senses of half a dead fly would a normal thinking person believe in this.It has never happened before. No one has been reportedly poisoned in Eswatini’s prisons or Correctional Services since history. We see it as a stunt to harvest cheap sympathy”, said the King’s Spokesperson when responding to this publication on Tuesday morning.
Assistant Commissioner Gugulethu Dlamini, the Spokesperson of the Correctional Services declined to comment and clarify the allegations particularly the plot to poison and kill the convicted pro-democracy MP inside prison.
But Sibongile Mazibuko, the NNLC President, consistently maintained that, the Tinkhundla system is known for poisoning those who call for democracy.
“The current King’s regime has a history of poisoning those with different political views.Dr Ambrose Zwane of the NNLC was arrested, poisoned and then released to die at home. Amos Mbhedzi was also poisoned and was released to die in his home country-South Africa.Even Jan Sithole, there are allegations suggesting that,he died of poisoning, so this is a cruel regime that kills those who call for democracy”, said the NNLC President.
Mazibuko urged emaSwati to urgently demand the release of the convicted pro-democracy MPs before the regime kill them in prison,Bacede Mabuza was arrested together with Mthandeni Dube.
