MBABANE:China has released a list of Taiwanese nationals facing possible arrest for promoting its province-Taiwan as an independent State.
This comes after China prepared a law that seeks to punish anyone promoting the separation with its province, individuals doing so are expected to be arrested when entering the Chinese territory.
The Global Times reported on Thursday that, special columns listing diehard “Taiwan independence” secessionists have been added to the websites of two Chinese Mainland departments.
Zhu Fenglian, a Spokesperson for the Chinese Department in charge of Taiwan Affairs, told journalists during a press briefing on Thursday that Taiwan “is part of China and the Nation shall never allow the “Taiwan independence” secessionists to separate the island from China under any name or by any means.
“According to Zhu, the people from both sides of the Straits highly support the measures for lawfully punishing “Taiwan independence” secessionist activities, believing that these targeted measures against diehard “Taiwan independence” separatists are effective”,’the Global Times reported.
Sources told this Swaziland News that, emaSwati who promote Taiwan and then travel to China might face surprise arrests in terms of the new law, the law comes with a death penalty if found guilty and some high profile emaSwati source goods for their businesses from China.
Reached for comments earlier on the subject matter,Wandile Dludlu,the Deputy President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said it’s becoming more risky for eSwatini to hold on to the diplomatic relations with Taiwan,he urged the King and the Government to respect the United Nation(UN) Resolution 2758 of 1971 that endorsed the One China Principle.
“It’s continuously becoming unfortunate that the ruling elite in Swaziland continues to defy the overwhelming recognition of the One China Policy”, said the PUDEMO Deputy President who urged the Government to respect the UN Resolution 2758 of 1971 and support the One China Principle.
