MBABANE:The High Court has issued an order directing Madlangemphisi Member of Parliament(MP) Allen Vilane to appear in court on the 22nd August 2024 to explain why he is refusing to pay back Three Hundred and Ninety Two Thousand, Five Hundred Rands(R392,500.00) owed to Mpofu Multi Purpose Co-operative.
This comes after the MP who is the Director of Mpumalanga Construction(Pty) Ltd convinced women of the said Cooperative organization to buy a truck, without informing them that,he was owing the bank.
The MP then failed to use the money to settle the debt with the bank and thereafter, the truck was repossessed by the financial institution as legally, it was still the property of the bank.
Lawyers representing the women under Mpofu Multi Purpose Co-operative are allegedly preparing to secure a garnishee order.
The court might issue a warrant of arrest for contempt of court, should the MP defy the order and refuse to appear in court.
