Ngculwini hailstorm victims still waiting for assistance from Government, Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Thulisile Dladla says she will check progress with National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA).

MBABANE:Thulisile Dladla,the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) says she will check the process with the National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA) regarding the assistance that was promised to Ngculwini, Mntfongwaneni and other areas hailstorm victims.

Responding to this Swaziland News on Saturday, the DPM promised to make a follow-up regarding the delayed assistance.

This comes after some residents wrote to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini earlier this week, requesting him to make a follow-up with Government regarding the delayed assistance.

The residents said, they were registered by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM)after the unfortunate natural disaster that destroyed homes in the country.

“I will convey message to NDMA who was registering the affected homesteads”, said the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) when responding to the editor on Saturday afternoon.

But apart from the hailstorm, wild fires recently destroyed national and private infrastructure in eSwatini worth millions, hundreds were left without shelter.

The natural disasters appear to worsen the poverty situation in the country where about 70% of the population lives below the poverty line.
