MBABANE:Sicelo Mngomezulu, the Chairperson of the pro-democracy MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) has expressed serious disappointment regarding the decision by the Southern African Development Community(SADC) to remove eSwatini from the Troika agenda despite the fact, the political issues that resulted to the country forming part of the agenda remain unresolved.

Eswatini is ruled by King Mswati as an absolute Monarch, political parties are banned while human rights defenders, political activists and independent journalists are arrested, tortured or killed for demanding democracy.

Speaking to this Swaziland News Visionary Perspective Program hosted by highly regarded human rights rights defender Velaphi Mamba on Swaziland News online platforms, the MSF Chairperson said, SADC previously prepared terms of reference for a political dialogue but, King Mswati refused to implement the decision or recommendations to host the recommended political dialogue.

“So what needs to happen now?. We need go back to what brought the issues to the agenda in the first place and it’s protests on the streets.EmaSwati need to go back and reclaim the streets against all odds, against the difficulties that are there on the ground”, said the MSF Chairperson.

King Mswati refused to implement SADC recommendations to host a political dialogue as part of peaceful means to resolve the eSwatini political crisis and this, comes after he allegedly unleashed his soldiers and the police including mercenaries to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for, demanding democratic reforms.

But last week during the Summit held in Zimbabwe,SADC removed the Kingdom of eSwatini from the Troika agenda this, was after the King presented and successfully convinced the Heads of State that, peace has been restored in the country.
