MATSAPHA:“Uyati yini kutsi inyoni ishaywa neligala layo, nasidubula sitawubhica nawe”.

These were the threats from an unknown caller who contacted Acting Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Dr Andile Metfula’s driver on Thursday evening, the death threats are recorded in a police statement at Sigodvweni Police Station.

Information leaked to Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini on Monday midnight, by State security officers suggests that, Metfula recorded the statement together with his driver whose name cannot be revealed for security reasons.

But on Monday evening, efforts were being made to trace the identity of the caller, police sources said, the matter was being vigorously investigated.

Efforts to reach Dr Andile Metfula for a comment proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report while Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati declined to comment.

But the Phesheya Dube, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology(ICT) confirmed the threats through a press statement released on Monday.

“The Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology has been made aware of disturbing threats against Dr. Andile Metfula, the Acting CEO of the Royal Science and Technology Park and officers. These threats are gravely concerning and being taken seriously by the Ministry. The safety and security of our personnel are of paramount importance. The Ministry is committed to ensuring that Dr Metfula, along with all other officials, are protected from any harm. We have engaged with the relevant security authorities to enforce necessary security measures in safeguarding Dr. Metfula and the Royal Science and Technology Park and his support staff, to avert any potential threats”, said the Principal Secretary.

It is alleged that, the power struggle erupted after the removal of Vumile Dlamini amid the over R100million fraud and corruption scandal within the State owned entity.

ICT Minister Savannah Maziya has been taking decisive action to clean the Royal Science and Technology Park(RSTP) and other State entities under her Ministry amid allegations of corruption.

But it appears that, the corruption is deep rooted and the syndicates are pulling the trigger against those thretening their interests.
