MBABANE:Zweli Martin Dlamini, the editor of this Swaziland News says Times editor Mfankhona Nkambule was allegedly paid to justify his persecution for writing critical articles against the Tinkhundla regime.
Dlamini said, the then Commander of the Army Jeffery Shabalala is on record confirming that, State agents were deployed to kill him for criticizing the King and Tinkhundla system.
This comes after Times editor Mfankhona Nkambule wrote an article trying to justify that, some of those in exile committed crimes in their personal capacity.
“Personally,I take any threat to my life very seriously and will do anything to mitigate it.It must be clear that police or the Tinkhundla regime does not have a right to kill us for having different views such that, when we react, that is interpreted as a crime”, said the editor.
The editor then thanked international organizations who supported him to ensure his safety but clarified that,he will not only rely on international support but will also try other means to mitigate the threats against his life.
“Mfankhona Nkambule is an alleged State spy,I have an email sent to me by his then editor Innocent Maphalala where he was confirming that Nkambule is working with the State. So we will address him as part of the police intelligence service. I also know many soldiers and the police who are in the newsroom pretending to be journalists yet they are part of the intelligence. Nkambule writes these articles so that Government can print the newspaper copies and attach his articles when trying to convince the world to extradite us, it’s part of intelligence work”, said the editor.
Editor says he won’t take lightly threats by the police and captured journalists who wants him dead, Times’ Mfankhona Nkambule allegedly paid to justify persecution.
