MBABANE:Savannah Maziya, the Minister of Information, Communication and Technology(ICT) says she will remove all corrupt Chief Executive Officers(CEOs) and Managers within State companies under her Ministry.
This is contained in a leaked information where the Minister was having a private conversation with one the influential Princesses about the removal of Vumile Dlamini, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Royal Science and Technology Park(RSTP).
The Minister allegedly told the Princess that, corruption in the public administration promotes poverty and the hungry emaSwati will then rebel against the King due to desperation.
The successful businesswoman further touched on the issue of poverty among emaSwati, saying she doesn’t understand why a majority of citizens are poor while those in power steal public funds that should be utilized to develop the lives of the people.
The Minister further touched on the issue of members of the royal family who are paid for more than three(3) jobs, she said “this must come to an end”.
On the issue of Vumile Dlamini, the Minister is alleged to have stated that, Dlamini will never be reinstated as the CEO while she holds the position of ICT Minister, she allegedly said, she doesn’t mind being fired but would appreciate being to leave Cabinet after removing all alleged corrupt individuals within the State owned companies under her Ministry.
The ICT Minister further told the Princess that, she was mandated by the King to operationalize the Ministry adding that, she was engaging investors to open businesses and create jobs in the country but, corruption remains a threat to Foreign Direct Investments(FDIs).
The Minister was not immediately available for a comment on this matter.
But she was recently quoted condemning corruption when addressing Members of Parliament(MPs) and Senators where she stated categorically clear that, she will deal with corruption.
“We have not come to these positions to steal from those who have less than we do,we have come to enrich them so that,when we leave after our terms are finished,they are better-off and that makes us better people.The habit that I seem to see of thinking that these positions are a road to wealth sifo lesibi maSwati.Lama-positions lawa are an honor and we must make them honorable.Nabatsi Honorable Savannah be honorable”, said the ICT Minister when addressing the Senators.
