MANZINI:King Mswati has applauded the production of “BakaNgwane”, a locally produced film that promotes the history of the eSwatini Nation among others.
Speaking during the premiere of the film at Julios Cinelux in Manzini on Friday evening,the King who was represented by Prince Senzangakhona, acknowledged the role played by the film industry in stimulating the economy and promoting tourism.
The film was produced or Directed by Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Pholile Dlamini-Shakantu.
“We recognise the significance of the film industry in our economy. It generates employment, stimulates creativity, and promotes tourism. Films like ‘BakaNgwane' can open doors to international markets, allowing our stories to be heard and appreciated around the globe. Our Nation must support this work, for it enriches our cultural heritage and fosters economic growth.Through this film, may we instill a sense of pride in our heritage among the younger generations, ensuring that they carry our traditions forward. We must engage our youth, encouraging them to delve into the world of filmmaking and storytelling, for they are the custodians of our cultural legacy. By fostering their talents, we can create a thriving industry that honours our past while looking toward the future.The success of ‘BakaNgwane' and all other locally produced films, depends not only on the talents of its creators but also on the support of every one of us. It has been reported that, the premiere of the film was attended by among others, diplomats, members of the royal family, Cabinet Ministers and other high profile people.
