MBABANE:Zweli Martin Dlamini has donated ten thousand Rands(R10,000.00) to assist political prisoners with clothes with toiletries.
The editor says he recently received a call from a highly influential figure within the Tinkhundla system who says he “is a loyal reader of the Swaziland News and wish to support him financially as he is in exile” for doing his job.
The influential figure allegedly said, the editor exposed things that helped them even within Government or the Tinkhundla system including the ongoing corruption in the public administration.
“I recently received a grant from a Europe based human rights organization. So I feel this money from the Tinkhundla loyalist must be directed to those political prisoners who were arrested for demanding democracy. I am doing this because one day I might write a story about the influential figure so he must know that, his money helped other emaSwati who are in prison. The money will go straight to a political leader who is taking care of the political prisoners or their lawyers to buy basic necessities and I hope they will account for it”, said the editor.
The editor said the influential figure will remain anonymous as he is a trusted servant of the King, but the money and the amount “is being made public so that, the Tinkhundla ‘donor’ can see that it went to assist other emaSwati in prison”.
