MBABANE:Percy Simelane,the King’s Spokesperson says he is aware that, the Judiciary is facing challenging amid delay in the appointment of the Judicial Service Commission(JSC) as contracts for some Magistrates and other judicial officers have expired.
This comes after some Judges and Magistrates of the High Court flooded this Swaziland News on Monday expressing concerns that, the Judiciary was struggling to operate as some Acting Magistrates are sitting at home without employment contracts.
It has been disclosed that, this has created a workload for the permanent Judges and Magistrates while staggering the wheel of justice.
“I not aware of any date for the appointment of the Jusicil Service Commission.Our experience is that there has never been any particular date all the years. I am aware that contracts for some Magistrates and other Judicial officers have expired.We strongly believe that relief is on its way. Appointment of such a body of men and women of honour has never been an occasion but a process even before the NKWE (speedo) National Motto which which calls for the best out of every office barrier, speedily”, said the King’s Spokesperson when responding to this Swaziland News on Monday evening.
A email was sent to Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, a Government Gazette suggest that, the term of office for the members of the Judiciary Service Commission expired last year and the Judiciary has been struggling to operate since the JSC vacated office.
