MBABANE:Bheki Makhubu, the editor of the Nation Magazine has applauded Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini for using technology in changing the eSwatini media landscape.
The senior editor shared these sentiments when compiling a recent report for the Campaign for Free Expression, an international human rights organization that also advocates for freedom of the media among others.
“Zwemart’s journey to online publication and social media, in particular, began in 2017 when the government of eSwatini banned a newspaper he published, the Swaziland News. He had been warned on several occasions about the slant his newspaper had taken. He was told to stick to publishing business-related articles as per the license agreement he had been issued with on registration and told to stay away from reporting on politics”, reads the report in part.
The report further states that, in 2018,Dlamini went online and published Swaziland News from South Africa where he moved and registered a company.
“From then on, the media landscape was never the same”, the Nation Magazine editor said in the report.
