ICT Ministry receives R700,000.00 funding from UNESCO to fight cybercrime and empower the youth on technology.

MBABANE:The Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology(ICT) through the Eswatini Communications Commission)ESCCOM) and in partnership with United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO) has launched a countrywide schools’ public awareness campaign to tackle cybercrime and empower the youth, Government online platforms reported on Wednesday.

“This initiative will kick off this October and has received over E700 000 funding support from UNESCO.The campaign seeks to raise awareness on cyberbullying and the prevention of cybercrime among adolescents and young people in Eswatini. It also aims to strengthen the capacity of teachers, parents, and schools to prevent and respond to cybercrime incidents as well as improve policies and legal frameworks to address the needs of adolescents and young people in school settings by 2026”, reads the Government online report.
