MBABANE:Prince Lonkhokhela,the Minister of Natural Resources and Energy has applauded Business Eswatini,the European Union(EU) and other partners in fostering the ongoing eSwatini’s proposed multibillion renewable energy project.
The Natural Resources Minister was speaking through Principal Secretary(PS) Lindiwe Mbingo, when closing the Business Eswatini-EU Annual Green Power Transformation Forum held at the Happy Valley Hotel-Ezulwini on Wednesday.
Renewable energy is the “energy that is not only environmentally friendly and sustainable” but,it is also derived from natural sources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed.
The Natural Resources and Energy Minister further noted that,sustainable energy remains at the forefront of the country’s national efforts to meet eSwatini’s energy needs.
“Sustainable energy is at the forefront of our national efforts to meet our energy needs, drive economic growth, create jobs, and protect the environment, by empowering local businesses, government entities, and community organizations with the tools and knowledge they need to implement renewable energy initiatives, we are fostering a resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem in Eswatini”, said the Natural Resources and Energy Minister.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Thursday evening, Nathie Dlamini,the Business Eswatini Chief Executive Officer(CEO) said the Annual Green Power Transformation was a huge success.
“The enthusiasm and engagement from all participants were truly commendable. Their contributions enriched the discussions and underscored the importance of collective action in addressing climate change.Business Eswatini together with the EU are forging a path toward a greener, more sustainable Eswatini. As our theme this year stated, we are working on catalysing investments and power sector reforms to support the energy transition in Eswatini and if the presentations and deliberations are anything to go by, we as a country are on a steady trail to achieve this.
As we reflect on the outcomes of this forum, we have a deep sense of gratitude towards the European Union delegation to Eswatini who have recommitted themselves, through Ambassador Karsten Mecklenburg, to continue supporting the forum.Let us continue to collaborate and innovate as we work towards a sustainable energy future for generations to come. Thank you once again for being part of this transformative journey in Eswatini”, said the Business Eswatini Chief Executive Officer(CEO).
