NATION MAGAZINE EDITOR BHEKI MAKHUBU:I regret advising editors ‘Zwemart’ and the late Thulani Tfwala not to remove Chairman Mbongeni Mbingo and Jabu Matsebula.

MBABANE:Bheki Makhubu, the editor of the Nation Magazine says towards the Elective Conference of the Eswatini Editors Forum(EFF), editors Zweli Martin Dlamini and the late Thulani Tfwala wanted to remove Chairman Mbongeni Mbingo and Secretary General(SG) Jabu Matsebula but, he pleaded with them to give Mbingo and Matsebula for a second chance.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, the senior editor said, he now regrets why he engaged ‘Zwemart’ and Thulani Tfwala not to remove the two(2).

“Towards the elections of the Editors Forum Executive members, Zwemart was actually vocal calling for the removal of Mbongeni Mbingo while Swazi Observer editor Thulani Tfwala was against both Mbingo and Matsebula. I was the one who engaged Zwemart to give them a chance and they were re-elected but now, I am regretting, it seems Zwemart and the late Thulani Tfwala were right”, said the Nation Magazine editor.

Makhubu’s sentiments comes after Mbingo and Matsebula, wrote a press statement apologizing to Prime Minister(PM) Russell Mmiso Dlamini for the tension that erupted during the recent Breakfast Meeting.

The PM was blasted by Makhubu after he responded with arrogance to a question where Times of eSwatini Managing editor Martin Dlamini was demanding answers with regards to the shortage of drugs in public hospitals.

On another note, Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini, a former Executive member of the Editors Forum confirmed that, he voted for Mbingo as the Chairman after being lobbied by senior editor Bheki Makhubu.

“Actually, together with the late Thulani Tfwala, we wanted Bheki Makhubu or Times Managing editor Martin Dlamini as Chairman. But Bheki was busy as he was studying law in a South African University, he suggested Mbongeni Mbingo as a person who is good in organizing the Breakfast Meetings and other media events or workshops. But now we have a challenge because Mbingo has been allegedly captured by the Prime Minister who undermined a very senior editor of the Times Martin Dlamini by refusing to answer a genuine question, demanding drugs in public hospitals. We are currently discussing privately to remove Mbingo and Matsebula because their term of office long-expired”, said the Swaziland News editor.
