PRETORIA:Solly Mapaila, the General Secretary of the South African Communist Party(SACP) has called for the urgent arrest of the suspect who allegedly poisoned Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of eSwatini’s main liberation party, the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO).
The SACP General Secretary was addressing the South African Democratic Teachers Union(SADTU) 10th National Congress this week, he also touched on the ongoing persecution of Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) who “is consistently attacked” by the eSwatini undemocratic regime for representing teachers.
“As we speak here today, just yesterday morning, comrade Mlungisi Makhanya the President of People’s United Democratic Movement in Swaziland, the liberation movement in Swaziland, was forcefully poisoned, forcefully poisoned!.Actually he was to be killed,he is in hospital as we speak, very critical because South Africa,comrade President of SNAT, our sincere solidarity with you and the people of Swaziland under that autocracy of King Mswati. South Africa is allowing Swaziland to do as it pleases, Swaziland sends mercenaries here, come and kill and abduct pro-democracy activists in South Africa and take them to Swaziland or kill them, as they did to Thulani Maseko.We have called for an independent investigation in this. We want to call for a speedy investigation, the activation of the seventy-two(72) hour notice to find the culprit that tried to kill comrade Mlungisi”, said the SACP General Secretary.
