NEW YORK: Pholile Dlamini-Shakantu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has urged Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) to leverage on innovation and technological advancements in order to bridge gaps in trade and infrastructure, Government online platforms reported this week.
The Foreign Minister was speaking when addressing the 23rd Annual Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Landlocked Developing Countries held on the margins of the United Nations(UN) General Assembly in New York, the United States.
“The Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini welcomes the proposal to structurally transform and diversify our economies, to establish an infrastructure investment finance facility, and to also ensure the availability of sustainable and accessible climate finance to respond to the needs of LLDCs, amongst other key priority areas.In this regard, we must also leverage innovation and technological advancements to bridge the gaps in trade and infrastructure. Digital solutions can provide LLDCs with new avenues to participate in the global economy, facilitating e-commerce, improving connectivity, and driving inclusive economic growth,” said the Foreign Affairs Minister.
