Scholarship crisis: NNLC President calls for Emaswati to unite against King’s oppressive Tinkhundla government

MBABANE: Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberation Congress(NNLC) has called upon eMaswati to unite against King Mswati’s oppressive Tinkhundla government.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Friday, the NNLC President said the refusal to award students scholarships was systematic and politically motivated as royalty long demonstrated that it was against education.

“They are afraid that once the citizens are educated, they will challenge the government and royalty hence their strategy is to destroy education” said the NNLC President.

The political activist, a former President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) called upon citizens to unite against the Tinkhundla saying it has come to destroy.

Simphiwe Dlamini, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) said they want government to award scholarship to all students.

“We know that government has a lot of money it’s just that it is not used where it is supposed to be used like education, we won’t go back to class until government pays for all students. This is the beginning, very soon, we might consider organising protests that will force government to pay for all children from Grade 0, this is not government money but our taxes” said the students union Secretary General.

Speaking to this publication, Brain Sangweni, the Spokesperson of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said they were in full support of the protests in demand for scholarship.
