Speaking to this Swaziland News on Friday, the NNLC President said the refusal to award students scholarships was systematic and politically motivated as royalty long demonstrated that it was against education.
“They are afraid that once the citizens are educated, they will challenge the government and royalty hence their strategy is to destroy education” said the NNLC President.

Simphiwe Dlamini, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) said they want government to award scholarship to all students.
“We know that government has a lot of money it’s just that it is not used where it is supposed to be used like education, we won’t go back to class until government pays for all students. This is the beginning, very soon, we might consider organising protests that will force government to pay for all children from Grade 0, this is not government money but our taxes” said the students union Secretary General.
Speaking to this publication, Brain Sangweni, the Spokesperson of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said they were in full support of the protests in demand for scholarship.
