Saturday, 28th September, 2024

MANZINI: The atmosphere in the city of Manzini was electric on Friday morning(27th September 2024), as reigning INSTACASH Schools Soccer Tournament Champions Manzini Central High School, celebrated their victory with a parade that drew nearly a thousand students.

Beginning at the former Jubilee Park, now Somhlolo Park, the procession ended at the school, coinciding with their annual speech and prize day.

During the event, the soccer team received recognition certificates, with notable attendees including Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo, INSTACASH Managing Director Mandla ‘Cheeks’ Nxumalo, and Guest Speaker OK Foods Director Lincoln Motsa, among others.

Manzini Central clinched the championship title on June 21, 2024, after edging Shiselweni rivals Evelyn Baring High School in a thrilling final at Somhlolo Stadium.

Elangeni High School secured third place, while Ndzangu High School took fourth.

The champions were awarded R30,000 in prize money, with the first runners-up receiving R20,000, and Elangeni and Ndzangu getting R10,000 and R5,000, respectively.

INSTACASH MD Cheeks Nxumalo expressed pride in celebrating the success of the reigning champions, reflecting on the previous year’s winners, Sibetsaphi High from Lubombo, who had been honoured with a special presentation ceremony at their school back then.

Noteworthy, Nxumalo recently announced a three-year investment of R1.4 million to the Eswatini Schools Sports Association (ESSA) for the continuation of the INSTACASH Schools Soccer tournaments.

Manzini Central Principal Celucolo Dino Dlamini praised INSTACASH for their commitment to schools sports and highlighted that many top players discovered through these tournaments are now competing in Premier and National First Division leagues. He encouraged emaSwati to embrace and use INSTACASH services, which include money transfers within Eswatini, purchasing electricity, buying airtime, signing up for funeral cover, paying for bills, funding sport betting accounts, and more.
